Dewey ("we", "our", "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Dewey app (the "Service"), you agree to this policy.

Information We Collect

• Account information: your name, email address, and country.
• Reading data: books you add, notes and highlights you write, ratings, reading days you log, and preferences you set.
• Content you submit to AI features: messages you send to the Virtual Author, and photos of book pages you choose to scan, which are transcribed into text.
• Purchase information: your subscription status, provided by our payments partner. We never receive or store your payment card details.
• Usage data: how you interact with the app, used to operate and improve the experience.

How We Use Your Information

• To provide, maintain, and improve the Dewey service.
• To generate your personalized reading conversations and insights using AI.
• To send optional reading reminder notifications, which you can turn off at any time.
• To manage your subscription and account.

AI Features and Third Parties

Dewey uses trusted third-party services to provide its features. When you use the Virtual Author or scan a page, the relevant text or image is sent to third-party AI providers to generate a response or transcription. We also use service providers for secure data storage, subscription management, and public book information. These providers process your data only to perform services for us, and we do not sell your data to anyone.

Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely using industry-standard safeguards. We do not sell your data to third parties.

Data Retention and Deletion

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from within the app (Settings → Delete Account, or Profile → Delete Account). Deleting your account removes your personal data from our systems.

Children

Dewey is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above.
